Initial Consultation
What Happens
All Planting Design projects* in Cardiff start with an initial consultation where we visit you to learn what you would like from your garden (We can do this remotely by phone or video call if you prefer, and we will also ask you to send us some photos of your garden).
Your initial garden design consultation will usually be free of charge (within our usual working areas).
The consultation is where you explain to us what you want, with as much detail as possible.
Before The Consultation
We will also send you a few questions to answer, to help you think about what you might want from your planting. This ensures we make the best use of the time during our meeting.
After The Consultation
We’ll then send you a written proposal to ensure that we have understood what you are hoping to achieve and which includes our design fees.
* For ‘Planting Light’ this is optional. Please Note: For Initial Consultation visits further away we may charge a reasonable fee to cover costs and travel time. This is refunded from our design fees if you commission us.
Planting Light – from £150
What’s Included
If you need help in identifying suitable new plants for your garden, or maybe you’ve been overwhelmed by plant choices during a visit to a garden centre, or you might prefer creating a border on your own, rather than following one of our planting plans, but find yourself unsure where to start, this service is designed for you.
Your personalised Plant List will include named varieties of plants to fit your existing borders. You then select your favourite plants from the list and arrange them in your garden, deciding on groupings, quantities, and sizes for a personalised and stunning look.
The Plant List will take into consideration various factors such as soil type, sunlight/shade levels, and other conditions in your garden. The plants will match your colour preferences, complement each other visually, suit your garden style, and the selection will take into account their mature size (height and spread). Moreover, the selection is designed to be within your gardening skills, and it includes accurate identification with botanical names and specific varieties.
You will receive:
- Consultation (optional from £105) to discuss your planting requirements, as well as what you’d like to achieve. We’ll take measurements of areas to be planted, and assess the garden, including consideration of aspect and soil.
- Plant List (Photo ID, named varieties, heights and spreads, flowering period) – PDF.
- Plant Care Guide (optional) with descriptions of plants, photo ID, and plant maintenance instructions as well as guide to watering and aftercare of your new plants. Please Note: This an optional extra charged from £95.00.
- Complementary soil improvement guide (included with Plant Care Guide).
