Sometimes our clients just need us to design a planting scheme for them. On this occasion it was a cottage garden style design bed. Which we were happy to do.
Emphasis
Our planting schemes generally put an emphasis on shapes, colours, texture and movement. And this cottage garden style bed scheme was no different. Along with an understanding of the environmental conditions (soil type, aspect and microclimate). To produce beautiful, unique planting combinations that provide year round interest.
Consultation
Firstly we started with a free initial consultation on site where our client explained to us what they wanted, in as much detail as possible.
During this consultation we also discussed their planting likes and dislikes and the kind of feel they wanted to create with the planting scheme. You may have images of gardens or styles that you like. This is always helpful. So this would be a good opportunity to share these as a starting point. This client likes the cottage garden style of planting.
We also walked around the garden, to assess the possibilities and limitations of the site.
After we had the initial consultation with our client. We provided a written proposal. This advised them whether want they wanted was realistic within the budget and outlined our design fees for the project.
Once our client had decided to commission us. We returned to carry out the cottage garden style bed scheme we then went back to carry out a site analysis and survey. This included soil testing.

Then it was back to the drawing board for the initial concept drawings and isometric visualisation. Once the client had given us the OK we produced the final planting plan. Which as you can see were a fairly simple but colourful set of drawings.
For this project we sourced and organised delivery of the plants as well as installing them.
